Taxi Dijon → Chalon-sur-Saône

Chalon-sur-Saône is Burgundy's second city with 46,000 inhabitants (110,000 for the urban area) and a historic crossroads at the confluence of the Canal du Centre and the Saône. The city is inseparable from Nicéphore Niépce, who invented photography there in 1826: the museum bearing his name, housed in the former Royal Mail coaching inn on the banks of the Saône, is one of the world's most important photography museums, with collections ranging from the very first heliograph to contemporary works. Chalon is also the capital of the Côte Chalonnaise, a wine-growing area producing remarkable and affordable wines: Mercurey, Givry, Rully and Montagny. The Île Saint-Laurent, linked to the town centre by bridges, has a preserved medieval quarter with 15th-century half-timbered houses. Every summer the city hosts Chalon dans la Rue, France's largest street arts festival, transforming quays and squares into giant stages for four days. Taxis from Dijon are popular with business travellers, cultural tourists and wine enthusiasts exploring the Côte Chalonnaise.
