Frequently asked questions
Medical taxi FAQ
What is a CPAM-approved medical taxi?
A CPAM-approved medical taxi is certified by the French national health insurance for professional seated transport (TAP). The driver is trained in patient transport, the vehicle is certified, and third-party billing means CPAM pays the taxi directly.
How do I qualify for third-party billing?
You need a medical transport prescription (PMT) from your doctor BEFORE the transport. Present the PMT, Carte Vitale and supplementary insurance card. Under ALD, AT, CMU-C: 100% coverage. Otherwise CPAM 65% + supplementary 35%.
What treatments are covered?
Dialysis, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, rehabilitation, specialist consultations, scheduled hospitalisations, medical examinations (MRI, CT scan, biopsy), post-operative care. A medical transport prescription is required.
Do you have wheelchair-accessible vehicles (PMR)?
Yes, our fleet includes PMR vans with access ramps, wheelchair securing systems and space for powered wheelchairs. Specify your PMR requirement when booking.
Does the driver wait during my consultation?
Yes, for round trips the driver waits throughout your consultation or session. Waiting time is included in the CPAM-agreed rate and fully covered.
What is the difference between a medical taxi and a VSL?
A medical taxi (TAP) is for seated patients who are autonomous or semi-autonomous. A VSL suits patients needing light monitoring (IV drip, oxygen). Medical taxis are generally cheaper, faster (bus lane access) and more personalised.
