Taxi Marseille → Manosque

Manosque, with its 23,000 inhabitants, is the most populous town in Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and a key economic hub in Haute-Provence. The town is inseparable from the writer Jean Giono (1895-1970), born and died here, who immortalised the landscapes of hills, plateaux and valleys of this inland Provence in his novels (Colline, Un de Baumugnes, Regain, The Horseman on the Roof). His home, 'Lou Paraïs', perched on the Mont d'Or hill, can be visited and offers panoramic views over the town and the pre-Alps. Manosque is also the gateway to the southern Luberon, with the villages of Pierrevert, Sainte-Tulle and Corbières close at hand, and the Valensole plateau (legendary lavender fields) just 20 minutes away. The local economy is shaped by the CEA Cadarache centre (15 km south), Europe's largest nuclear energy research centre, which hosts the international ITER thermonuclear fusion project. Thousands of engineers and technicians from around the world travel between Marseille and Manosque, making taxis an essential daily service. L'Occitane en Provence, the global cosmetics brand, also has its headquarters and factory in Manosque, with a visitor space open to the public.
