Taxi Vannes → Quimper

The Vannes to Quimper journey is a traverse of southern Brittany, from the Gulf of Morbihan to the confluence of the Odet and Steir rivers in old Quimper. Vannes, the Morbihan prefecture, offers an enchanting medieval setting with its flower-bedecked ramparts and gulf-side marina. Quimper, the Finistere prefecture, is considered the cultural capital of Brittany. Its Saint-Corentin Cathedral, a masterpiece of Breton Gothic with twin 76-metre spires and a slightly off-axis nave (following the river's curve), dominates a historic centre of exceptional heritage. The pedestrian streets of old Quimper, lined with 16th and 17th-century half-timbered houses with carved overhangs, house artisan shops, traditional creperies and art galleries. The Henriot-Quimper faience factory, founded in 1690, continues a three-century tradition of hand-painted pottery with its famous motifs of little Bretons in traditional costume. The Festival de Cornouaille (July) draws thousands for lively fest-noz evenings and Celtic music concerts. The taxi is popular with cultural tourists, professionals travelling between the two prefectures and rail travellers.
