Taxi Lorient → Quimper

The Lorient to Quimper journey links two major cities of southern Brittany, each with a strong and complementary identity. Lorient, the city of five ports rebuilt after World War II bombing, is a leading maritime hub with its Keroman fishing port (France's second by tonnage), its submarine base converted into a cultural space and the Cite de la Voile Eric Tabarly. The Interceltic Festival, held every August, transforms the city into the world capital of Celtic culture for ten days, with concerts, fest-noz evenings, bagadou parades and pipe band competitions. Quimper, at the other end of this 67-kilometre journey, is a city of art and history with incomparable charm. Nestled at the confluence of the Odet and Steir rivers, the medieval old town unfolds around Saint-Corentin Cathedral with its Gothic spires and the Odet gardens below. Quimper is world-renowned for its hand-painted faience, an artisan tradition dating back to 1690, and for its Festival de Cornouaille celebrating Breton music and dance every summer. The taxi is used by professionals working between the two cities, festival-goers, families on holiday on the Finistere coast and travellers connecting between Lorient and Quimper stations, both served by TGV.
