Taxi Rouen → Amiens

Amiens is the prefecture of the Somme and one of northern France's great historic cities. Its Notre-Dame Cathedral, France's largest by interior volume (200,000 m3), is a masterpiece of Classical Gothic inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Built in just 68 years (1220-1288), it reaches 42.30 metres of vault height — a record for the era. Its western façade, with three portals sculpted with over 4,000 figures, is considered the 'Bible in stone'. In summer, the 'Chroma' light show illuminates the façade with its original medieval colours. The hortillonnages, a 300-hectare floating garden criss-crossed by 65 km of canals, is a landscape unique in Europe, visited by traditional flat-bottomed boats. Jules Verne's house, where the writer lived for 18 years and wrote many of his novels (Around the World in 80 Days, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea), is a fascinating museum. The Saint-Leu quarter, former dyers' and weavers' district along the Somme canals, is the heart of Amiens nightlife and gastronomy.
