The Deauville-Le Havre journey is a concentrated experience of maritime Normandy, linking the Cote Fleurie's most elegant resort to France's largest commercial port. The route passes through Honfleur, the Seine estuary gem whose old harbour inspired generations of Impressionist painters, before crossing the spectacular Pont de Normandie. This cable-stayed bridge, inaugurated in 1995, spans the Seine estuary over 2,143 metres with an 856-metre main span — it was the world's longest cable-stayed bridge for several years. The crossing offers exceptional panoramic views at 52 metres above the estuary waters, with views over the classified marshes, the industrial port and, on clear days, the Alabaster Coast as far as Etretat. Le Havre, largely destroyed in 1944, was entirely rebuilt by architect Auguste Perret in a modernist reinforced-concrete style that earned it UNESCO World Heritage status in 2005. The MuMa museum holds France's second-largest Impressionist collection after the Musee d'Orsay. Taxis serve cruise passengers departing from Le Havre terminal, travellers connecting to the Le Havre rail network, and tourists combining seaside and urban heritage.

Route Deauville → Le Havre
Your driver leaves Deauville towards Honfleur on the D677, crossing the heart of the Cote Fleurie along the Pays d'Auge hillsides. After passing through or bypassing Honfleur depending on traffic, you access the Pont de Normandie from the southern ramp. The bridge crossing is a highlight: at 52 metres high, the views over the estuary, marshes, Le Havre docks and the Norman coast are spectacular, especially in clear weather. On very windy days the bridge speed limit is reduced but it is very rarely closed. After the bridge, the A29 leads directly to Le Havre in a few minutes, serving the Perret-rebuilt centre, the cruise terminal, the beach and the railway station. Bridge toll is about 5.50 euros (included). Allow 35 minutes normally, up to 50 minutes in summer when Honfleur is busy and bridge access can be slow.

Specific tips for the Deauville → Le Havre route
If you have never crossed the Pont de Normandie, it is an experience not to miss — your driver will slow down slightly to let you enjoy the panorama. A stop in Honfleur (Vieux Bassin, 15-20 min) is possible en route — it is one of France's most photogenic villages. In Le Havre, the Perret quarter (UNESCO) deserves a walk: Avenue Foch, the Porte Oceane and especially Saint-Joseph's church with its interior bathed in coloured light from 12,768 stained glass pieces. The MuMa modern art museum (10 euros) houses an exceptional collection of Monet, Renoir, Boudin and Dufy. The Hanging Gardens (free) offer panoramic views over the port and the Channel. The Saint-Francois quarter is perfect for a seafood lunch facing the fishing harbour.
