Geneva International Airport (GVA), located on the Franco-Swiss border, is the natural air gateway to Chamonix-Mont-Blanc and the Northern Alps ski resorts. With over 17 million annual passengers and direct flights to more than 150 destinations worldwide, it is the preferred connection point for international travellers heading to the Mont-Blanc valley. The taxi transfer from Chamonix to Geneva Airport is the most requested service by skiers, mountaineers and tourists staying in the valley, particularly for morning flights requiring an early departure. The A40 Autoroute Blanche connects both points in just over an hour through the spectacular Haute-Savoie landscapes. Geneva Airport has a unique feature: a French sector accessible without going through Swiss customs, simplifying formalities for travellers from France.
Route
Route Chamonix → Aéroport de Genève
The route from Chamonix follows the RN205 down the Arve valley through Les Houches, Servoz and Sallanches. After Sallanches, you join the A40 Autoroute Blanche heading north-west through Cluses and Bonneville. The motorway crosses the Annemasse basin before entering Switzerland at Bardonnex. Geneva Airport is directly accessible from the motorway via a dedicated, well-signposted exit. The driver drops you at the departure terminal closest to your airline's check-in area. For arrivals, the driver meets you in the waiting area with a name board and handles your luggage from the terminal exit.

Specific tips for the Chamonix → Aéroport de Genève route
For early flights, book your taxi the day before and allow ample margin: 2.5 hours before departure for international flights and 2 hours for European flights, plus the 1h05 travel time. Departures from Chamonix at 4–5am are common for 7–8am flights. In winter, the Chamonix–Sallanches road can be snowy — our drivers are experienced and vehicles winter-equipped, but allow 15 extra minutes as a precaution. On ski season start/end Saturdays, Arve valley traffic is particularly heavy — an early departure is strongly recommended. Provide your flight number when booking so the driver can monitor your flight status in real time.
