Taxi Nice — Châteauneuf-Grasse

Châteauneuf-Grasse is a fortified village of rare elegance, perched at 400 metres altitude between Grasse and the coast, offering one of the most extensive panoramas in the Grasse hinterland. This small medieval town, founded in the 12th century around its seigneurial castle, has preserved a remarkable authenticity: its ramparts, fortified gates, cobbled lanes and stone houses form a coherent and preserved architectural ensemble, sheltered from mass tourism. The castle, now privately owned, dominates the village with its imposing silhouette and offers from its surrounds a spectacular panoramic view of the coast, from the red Estérel massif in the west to Cap d'Antibes in the east, with the Lérins Islands glittering offshore. Châteauneuf-Grasse is at the heart of olive country: the surrounding hills are covered with centuries-old olive groves producing an appellation-controlled olive oil considered among the finest in Provence. The village also produces wine and honey, and the perfumers of nearby Grasse still cultivate jasmine and rose fields here. The village atmosphere is that of a timeless Provençal hamlet, with cats dozing on warm stone steps, geranium window boxes and the song of cicadas in summer. The journey from Nice first crosses the coastal landscape before gradually climbing into the fragrant hills of the Grasse country.
