Suresnes, a town of 49,000 residents perched on hillsides overlooking the Seine, boasts exceptional heritage and a strong identity. Mont-Valérien, peaking at 162 metres, is the highest point in the Paris metropolitan area and houses the Fighting France Memorial, a key national remembrance site where over 1,000 resistance fighters and hostages were executed during the German Occupation. Suresnes is also the only Île-de-France municipality with an active municipal vineyard: the Clos du Pas Saint-Maurice, whose annual harvest (Suresnes Grape Harvest Festival, October) draws thousands of visitors. The Suresnes Urban History Museum traces the town's evolution from the 1920s garden city (classified remarkable heritage) to contemporary projects. The T2 tramway crosses the town along the Seine, connecting La Défense to Pont de Sèvres, but Orly connections remain long. The Suresnes American Cemetery, dedicated to American soldiers from both World Wars, is a place of remembrance visited by diplomats and families.
