Taxi Morlaix → Quimper

The Morlaix — Quimper journey is a north-south crossing of Finistere offering two radically different faces of Brittany. In the north, Morlaix is an estuary town facing the bay, dominated by its colossal two-tier viaduct. In the south, Quimper is the capital of Cornouaille, a city of art and history nestled at the confluence of the Steir, Jet and Odet rivers, with its Saint-Corentin Cathedral whose twin 76-metre spires overlook a maze of medieval lanes lined with colourful half-timbered houses. Between them, the inland route crosses the wild heart of Brittany: the Monts d'Arree, a chain of hills peaking at Roc'h Ruz (385 metres, Brittany's highest point) and classified as the Armorique Regional Nature Park. This landscape of heather moorland, peat bogs, rocky crests and deep valleys is a world apart, inhabited by legends of the Ankou (death personified in Breton tradition) and the Yeun Elez, a marsh reputed to be a gateway to Hell in Celtic mythology. Huelgoat forest, with its spectacular granite chaos — giant boulders jumbled in mossy, fern-covered woodland — is one of Brittany's most visited natural sites.
