Taxi Figeac → Cahors

This route connects the two main towns of the Lot department through the heart of the Quercy region. Figeac is Champollion's birthplace (hieroglyphs decipherer), with its medieval soleilhos and the Rosetta Stone replica on Place des Ecritures. Cahors boasts the Pont Valentre (14th-century fortified bridge, UNESCO), the Romanesque Saint-Etienne cathedral and the famous Cahors malbec vineyard ('black wine'). The road crosses the UNESCO Causses du Quercy geopark with its karst landscapes, Pech Merle prehistoric cave (25,000-year-old paintings) and Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, one of France's most beautiful villages perched above the Lot river.
