From Paris, the driver takes the southern ring road then the A6 motorway towards Lyon for about 10 kilometres. Near Wissous, the route switches to the N118 towards Chartres-Saclay. The 'Christ de Saclay' exit provides direct access to the plateau via the D36. For École Polytechnique, the Route de Saclay leads directly to campus. The CEA is slightly further north via the D306. When the A6 is congested, an alternative via the D920 through Clamart and Vélizy reaches the plateau from the west.
