Taxi Neufchâteau → Nancy

Neufchâteau, sub-prefecture of the Vosges nestled at the confluence of the Meuse and Mouzon rivers, is one of Lorraine's oldest towns with an often overlooked medieval and Renaissance heritage. The town's glory lies in its proximity to Domrémy-la-Pucelle, just 10 km north, birthplace of Joan of Arc. It was in this modest Domrémy house, now a museum, that the young shepherdess who would hear the voices of Saint Michael, Saint Catherine and Saint Margaret was born in 1412. At 17, she would lead King Charles VII's armies to victory, liberating Orléans and having the king crowned at Reims. The Bois-Chenu basilica, built on the hill where Joan first heard her voices, overlooks the green Meuse valley landscape. Neufchâteau also hosts each September one of France's oldest fairs, documented since the 12th century. Nancy, this route's destination, is the jewel of Lorraine classicism with its Place Stanislas and gilded gates by Jean Lamour, its Pépinière park and its École de Nancy museum.
