Taxi Saint-Brieuc → Brest

The Saint-Brieuc to Brest journey traverses northern Brittany in all its splendour, linking the Cotes-d'Armor prefecture to the western tip of Finistere. Saint-Brieuc, nestled at the head of its bay — a national nature reserve hosting thousands of migratory birds each winter — is a granite-and-slate city built on rugged terrain between the Gouedic and Gouet valleys. Its fortified Cathedral of Saint-Etienne, a true religious fortress with arrow slits, recalls centuries of medieval conflict. Brest, at the western end, was almost entirely rebuilt after its near-total destruction by Allied bombing in 1944, displaying an orderly modernist urbanism centred on the Rue de Siam descending majestically to the harbour. The Brest roadstead, one of Europe's largest and deepest, has sheltered the French navy since Richelieu. Oceanopolis, Brest's grand aquarium with tropical, polar and temperate pavilions, is the city's major cultural and scientific attraction. The International Maritime Festivals of Brest, held every four years, gather the world's greatest tall ships.
