Taxi Fontainebleau → Nemours

Fontainebleau to Nemours crosses the southern part of the royal forest to reach one of Seine-et-Marne's most charming small towns. Nemours has a 12th-century moated castle, one of the rare urban fortified castles in Île-de-France. The departmental Prehistory Museum, in a modernist Roland Simounet building, houses the region's most important prehistoric collections spanning 300,000 years. The Loing river gives the town a pastoral charm with stone bridges and waterside houses. Bourron-Marlotte, on the route, was an Impressionist artists' village where Renoir, Sisley and Cézanne worked. The Gâtinais region is famed for its honey, prized since the Middle Ages.
