Taxi Arcachon → Cap Ferret

Cap Ferret is one of the most emblematic and sought-after destinations on the French Atlantic coast. Located at the tip of the Lege-Cap-Ferret peninsula, this 25 km-long strip of land separates the Atlantic Ocean from the Arcachon Bay. Although Arcachon and Cap Ferret are only a few kilometres apart as the crow flies — separated by the Bay's passes — the road journey requires a full circuit around the Bay, offering an exceptional panorama of this unique European lagoon. Along the route, you will pass through the picturesque oyster-farming ports of Gujan-Mestras, Biganos, Audenge, Lanton and Andernos-les-Bains, where colourful oystermen's huts line the channels. The Ile aux Oiseaux, with its two iconic tchanquees cabins on stilts, is visible from several points along the way. The Cap Ferret peninsula itself is a string of charming villages — L'Herbe, Le Canon, Piraillan, Le Grand Piquey — where life follows the rhythm of the tides and oyster tasting. The Cap Ferret lighthouse, standing 53 metres tall, offers an unrivalled panorama over the Dune du Pilat, the Banc d'Arguin and the Bay entrance.
