Taxi Apt → Gordes

Gordes is a spectacular hilltop village clinging to a rocky spur in the Luberon, classified among the Most Beautiful Villages in France since 1988. Its dry-stone houses topped with lauze roofs cascade down the cliff face, crowned by a Renaissance castle. The view from the D15 approaching from the north is one of Provence's most photographed scenes. Just 4 km north, the 12th-century Sénanque Abbey — a Cistercian monastery still active today — is surrounded by lavender fields that bloom mid-June to mid-August, creating perhaps the most iconic image of Provence worldwide. The Village des Bories showcases ancient dry-stone construction. Artists including Chagall and Vasarely lived here. The taxi is the most practical way to reach Gordes from Apt, as roads are winding and parking is extremely limited in high season.
