Departing from Lyon, the driver reaches the A43 via the Fourvière tunnel or the eastern ring road. The motorway heads east across the Isère plain, passing through Bourgoin-Jallieu and La Tour-du-Pin. After the Chimilin toll, you enter the Savoie department. The route runs along the western shore of Lac du Bourget, offering magnificent glimpses of this lake, the largest natural lake in metropolitan France. At Chambéry, the route takes the bypass then the A41 towards Annecy. This section crosses the Alpine corridor, a green valley bordered by the Bauges to the east and the Épine to the west. The final kilometres before Annecy are the most spectacular, with the lake suddenly appearing between the mountains.
