Travelling by taxi with a pet in France is regulated. Small animals (cats, small dogs, rabbits) must be carried in a closed carrier or bag, placed on the vehicle floor. In this case, no surcharge may be charged. Medium or large dogs may travel on the back seat with a protective cover, with a possible surcharge of 0 to 5 euros. Guide dogs and assistance dogs must be accepted free of charge: any refusal is subject to a fine. The driver may refuse an uncontained or aggressive animal for safety reasons.
